On 27th June we had the pleasure of capturing Georgina and Stuart’s wedding at the stunning Mythe Barn in Atherstone.
The ceremony was held in the Oak Barn which was decorated beautifully. The procession of the bridal party became a little too much for Stuart, as soon he saw their gorgeous daughter walking down the aisle he couldn’t hold back the tears. When he saw his beautiful bride, he was completely overcome. With Phil up on the balcony at the rear and Vicky at the front, we captured this emotional moment (even we had to hold back the tears). The ceremony was beautiful, surrounded by their family and friends.
After the I do’s we all headed out to the courtyard for reception drinks and photos. With the stunning garden and surrounding fields, the areas for photos were superb. Below are just a few of our favourite images from their amazing day. We would like to thank Georgina and Stuart for choosing us to capture your special day.
On Saturday 15th June, we had the pleasure of capturing Katie and Luke’s wedding day. The ceremony was held at the beautiful St Chad’s Church in Hopwas, followed by reception at The Belfry in Wishaw, Sutton Coldfield.
Vicky joined the Bride at her parent’s home to capture the preparations, whilst Phil joined the (very nervous) Groom at home. Following laughter and tears (all happy) of getting ready, everyone made their way to the Church. The ceremony was beautiful, surrounded by their family and friends. After the ceremony, with the weather looking rather ropey, we all kept our fingers crossed for the rain to pass us by, and cracked on with the group shots and confetti throw. Just as we finished the groups, the rain made it’s appearance!
The rain did not ease at all on the way to The Belfry. The Bride and Groom stayed in the car, a stunning Rolls Royce, enjoying a glass a of fizz. Just as we were ready to brave the elements, the rain stopped. It couldn’t have been timed better to get shots with the car. Whilst the guests were enjoying drinks and canapés , we hopped on the golf buggy to visit all the excellent places The Belfry has to offer for stunning Bridal portraits. Including the bridge, fountain, trellis etc… Below are just a few of our favourite images from their day.
On Saturday 17th May, we had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Rachel and Ben at St Paul’s Church in Burton Upon Trent, and Reception at Branston Golf and Country Club, also in Burton Upon Trent.
On the morning of the wedding, driving to the church, the weather was a little wet. Thankfully, as we approached, the rain stopped just in time for the guests arriving. St Paul’s church is absolutely breathtaking. One of the church officials told us about how the church was originally going to be a cathedral, which you can certainly see from inside. The ceremony was lovely, filled with laughter and love.
After the ceremony, the sun was shining brightly. We captured the family group shots the bride and groom requested in the church grounds, before heading on to the reception.
This was a new venue for us to shoot at. We love going to new venues, as it gets the creative juices flowing, exploring all the areas to make beautiful backdrops for the photos. Branston Golf Club has an abundance of areas, with the stunning dedicated bridal garden and golf buggy down to the lake and bridge. The wedding co-ordinator couldn’t have been more helpful to both the bride and groom, and us. Nothing was too much trouble.
We had a lovely day, thank you to Rachel and Ben for choosing us to capture your special day.
What Rachel and Ben had to say: “We would just like to thank both you and Phil for capturing our wedding day. The photos are beautiful and we are having a tough time selecting the ones for our album! You made us feel comfortable and relaxed during the day.”
On Saturday 2nd February 2019, we had the pleasure of providing wedding photography for Leanne and Freddy at the stunning wedding venue, Somerford Hall in Staffordshire.
It was a true pleasure as we have met the happy couple on several occasions before. We have captured Leanne’s sister’s wedding, a family christening, and a family photo shoot session in the studio. Therefore, we jumped at the chance to capture their wedding.
On the big day, both of us (Phil and Vicky) were there to capture every detail from the bride getting ready, through to the couple’s first dance. As it was the beginning of February, it was guaranteed to be a bit chilly. After the ceremony, we headed outside for the group shots. As it was a little cold, we headed back indoors to take some portraits of the bride and groom to let them warm up. Somerford Hall has many areas inside to provide stunning backdrops for the bridal portraiture including the Bridal Suite, staircase, and entrance hall.
Below are just a few images from their special day. We would like to thank Leanne and Freddy for choosing us to record your wedding. For more information on our Wedding Photography service, click here
On Saturday 29th December, we had the pleasure of photographing Sian and Tom’s wedding day at the stunning Winstanley House, Leicester.
I met with Sian and Tom a couple of weeks before the big day to have a chat about their wedding photography, to allow me to plan out the shots they wanted without compromising their time with their guests. Sian did mention that she does not feel comfortable in front of the camera, which I took on board.
On the day, both myself and Phil joined the happy couple and their guests to celebrate and capture their day. As the ceremony was at 3pm, we were a little restricted on time to get the outdoor group shots and portraits done before it went dark. We did it, giving the Bride and Groom plenty of time to enjoy a glass (or two) of fizz and mingle with their guests before they sat down for dinner.
At night, the manor house is lit up beautifully. Therefore we could not miss the opportunity for some nighttime portraits. Below are just a few of our favourite shots.
We would like to thank Sian and Tom for choosing us to capture your special day and wish you all the happiness in the world.
Wedding of Helen and Glen at Nuneaton Registry Office and Wishaw Country Club
On 7th April 2018 we had the pleasure of providing the wedding photography for Helen and Glen. The ceremony was held at Nuneaton Registry Office, followed by Reception at Wishaw Country Sports Club.
The day started a little bit wet. Well more accurately, it was chucking it down just before the ceremony, whilst we took shelter under a tree. Thankfully, just as the guests were starting to arrive, the rain stopped. The bride and groom arrived together with their two boys, which was lovely to see the family start the proceedings all together. The ceremony was beautiful, surrounded by their family and closest friends. Following the I do’s, the registrars opened the front doors which lead straight out in to Riversley Park. The park is beautiful, providing many different backdrops for photos. A few group shots were taken before the wedding party moved on to the Reception.
The reception was held in the barn at Wishaw Country Club. This is a stunning barn conversion for weddings with bar area, and large function room. The room was decorated with the couple’s vintage country theme throughout, with a few personal touches too. The driveway was a great location for the bridal portraiture.
Below are just a few of the images from the big day. We would like to thank Helen and Glen for involving us in your special day and wish you and the boys all the best for the future.
Message from the Bride: “We can highly recommend Philip Charles Photography. From day one of enquiry we were treated in a friendly yet professional manner. Phil and Vicky have answered all the questions I threw at them and were even kind enough to adapt to our day and give us our own special package to suit us. No other local photographer would be willing to do this! On the day they were fab, straight away put our nerves at bay. Throughout the day they took lots of photos some group, couple and my favourite the natural ones. Thank you Phil and Vicky were looking forward to picking our album up soon.”
On 14th December 2017, we made the journey to Birtsmorton Court, near Malvern in Worcestershire, to capture the wedding of Amie and Ross. A little further away than our usual area, but it was certainly worth it!
The venue dates back to 1241, with stunning architecture and gardens. It also has its very own church in the grounds. There are very few venues which give you the option of a church ceremony or civil ceremony. Amie and Ross had their ceremony in the church, which is stunning and was a lovely service. Following the ‘I do’s’, on a very chilly, snowy day, we headed into the breathtaking gardens for the group shots and Bridal portraiture. To warm up, we headed back inside to the roaring fire place and Christmas tree, which provided a great back drop. The theme of the day was Beauty and the Beast, which was executed brilliantly, with very apt table centre pieces and an amazing cake (check out the cake below).
A couple of weeks before the big day, we met with the happy couple to discuss their photography and create a personalised shot list, as we do with all of our couples. They asked for one particular shot very personal to them, which I have included in a small selection of images from the day. We would like to thank Amie and Ross for choosing us to record your special day.
Wedding of Natasha and Tom at The School House, Lichfield
On Friday 15th December 2017, we had the pleasure of covering the wedding of Natasha and Tom. The ceremony was held at the beautiful St Chad’s Church in Hopwas, followed by Reception at The School House in Lichfield.
On the morning of the wedding we threw open the curtains to find snow! As a photographer about to photograph the most important day of a couple’s life, seeing snow certainly gives you a funny feeling in your stomach. We joined the bride at home to capture the preparations, spirits were certainly high.
Following the “I do’s” at St Chads Church and a few photos, we moved on to The School House. The venue was decorated beautifully in Christmas theme, with lots of red and balloon Santa’s. It truly was a family event with lots of entertainment for the children by Weddings by Thelma.
Unfortunately, the Bride’s grandmother was unable to attend the wedding, as she was in hospital very poorly. The bride wanted to see her Grandmother on her special day, so the couple sacrificed some of their photography time to go to the hospital to visit her. Phil asked if they would like him to accompany them to get a portrait with her, which they jumped at. It was such a privilege to be part of this special moment with the family, and one we will always remember.
We returned to the reception to carry on the celebrations.
Below are a few images from the day. We would like to thank Natasha and Tom for choosing us to be part of your very special wedding day, and wish you and your lovely family all the very best for the future.
Mel and Paul’s Wedding Ceremony at St Mary’s Guildhall
The historic St Mary’s Guildhall in Coventry hosted the wedding ceremony of the lovely Mel and Paul on 25th August 2017. We had the pleasure of providing their wedding photography.
St Mary’s Guildhall was built over 700 years ago, and you truly do feel like you step back in history. The venue is amazing, providing a stunning backdrop for photographs. As a superb addition to the venue, directly opposite is the ruins of the former Cathedral Church of St Michael.
The ceremony was held in The Great Hall, which was filled with love, laughter and lots of happy tears. Following the ‘I do’s’ we all headed to the courtyard in to the glorious sunshine to capture the couple’s family and friends, and also the Bride and Groom’s portraiture shots. Using the ruins of the former cathedral was a must for some of the portraiture shots.
Thank you to Mel and Paul for choosing Philip Charles Photography to capture your special day. Below are a few of our favourite images.
Amy & Andrew’s Wedding at The Alexandra Court Hotel, Congleton
On 5th August 2017, we had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Amy and Andrew, held at The Alexandra Court Hotel in Congleton.
This is a little further afield than our other wedding venues, but it was certainly worth the journey. Amy and Andrew are such a lovely couple, we would have travelled even further to be part of their day. We provided full day coverage from the bridal party getting ready in the hotel, through to the first dance. The ceremony was conducted outside in the beautiful grounds, luckily the weather was glorious. The couple wanted very relaxed, candid photos recording the day as it happened.
The showstopper had to be the cake! Amy and Andrew love books, therefore the theme was based around their favourite novels. The table centre pieces were stacked books, and the cake …… take a look for yourself in the images below from the day.
