Branston Golf Club Wedding Photography

On Saturday 17th May, we had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Rachel and Ben at St Paul’s Church in Burton Upon Trent, and Reception at Branston Golf and Country Club, also in Burton Upon Trent.

On the morning of the wedding, driving to the church, the weather was a little wet. Thankfully, as we approached, the rain stopped just in time for the guests arriving. St Paul’s church is absolutely breathtaking. One of the church officials told us about how the church was originally going to be a cathedral, which you can certainly see from inside. The ceremony was lovely, filled with laughter and love.

After the ceremony, the sun was shining brightly. We captured the family group shots the bride and groom requested in the church grounds, before heading on to the reception.

This was a new venue for us to shoot at. We love going to new venues, as it gets the creative juices flowing, exploring all the areas to make beautiful backdrops for the photos. Branston Golf Club has an abundance of areas, with the stunning dedicated bridal garden and golf buggy down to the lake and bridge. The wedding co-ordinator couldn’t have been more helpful to both the bride and groom, and us. Nothing was too much trouble.

We had a lovely day, thank you to Rachel and Ben for choosing us to capture your special day.

What Rachel and Ben had to say: “We would just like to thank both you and Phil for capturing our wedding day. The photos are beautiful and we are having a tough time selecting the ones for our album! You made us feel comfortable and relaxed during the day.”

Somerford Hall Wedding Photographer

On Saturday 2nd February 2019, we had the pleasure of providing wedding photography for Leanne and Freddy at the stunning wedding venue, Somerford Hall in Staffordshire.

It was a true pleasure as we have met the happy couple on several occasions before. We have captured Leanne’s sister’s wedding, a family christening, and a family photo shoot session in the studio. Therefore, we jumped at the chance to capture their wedding.

On the big day, both of us (Phil and Vicky) were there to capture every detail from the bride getting ready, through to the couple’s first dance. As it was the beginning of February, it was guaranteed to be a bit chilly. After the ceremony, we headed outside for the group shots. As it was a little cold, we headed back indoors to take some portraits of the bride and groom to let them warm up. Somerford Hall has many areas inside to provide stunning backdrops for the bridal portraiture including the Bridal Suite, staircase, and entrance hall.

Below are just a few images from their special day. We would like to thank Leanne and Freddy for choosing us to record your wedding. For more information on our Wedding Photography service, click here

New Year, New Beginnings

January is notoriously a very quiet month for photographers, but January 2019 seems to have taken a busy turn for us – happy days! Here’s an update of what we (Phil and Vicky) have been up to.

Taking Image Viewings to a New Level

It’s taken some time, 2 years to be precise, but we have finally moved Vicky (me) in to the 21st century!! I am the first to admit I am not very technical savvy, and doing image presentations on the big screen used to drive me nuts. I would get so muddled up and angry with the software during image viewings that I wanted to throw the laptop against something hard (mainly Phil). So I decided to move to a more traditional approach by using proof prints. Which had its advantages – main one being no confusing software – but it was still not versatile enough to really demonstrate how amazing your family portraits will look at home. So, after lots of research we have finally found a user-friendly ‘Vicky-friendly’ software. The big screen TV is back, with slideshow to music, easily select your favourite images, and even see how your images will look in you own room at home.  The first family to test it out on was the Clifton family. They chose a stunning 4 image multi-frame and were able to see how it will actually look.

Photo Shoot Session with the Hall Family

One of our first shoots of 2019 was with the Hall family, who came to the studio on 7th Jan. The shoot was a Christmas gift for the grandparents with their two grandchildren aged 7 and 4. When they arrived, straight away mum made Phil aware that one of the children is on the Autism spectrum. This allowed Phil time to talk to mum to find out a little more about likes and dislikes, and how to get the best out of him. The shoot was great fun and a great experience, which showed in the final images. Grandma and Grandad were over the moon.

Wedding Fayre Season

Wedding Fayre season is upon us. With newly engaged couples over the festive period, starting to plan the most magical day of their lives. On Sunday 20th January, we exhibited at the beautiful Middleton Hall. Along with great local wedding suppliers, we were greeted by loads of excited Bride’s and Groom’s to be. We’re looking forward to being at Lea Marston Hotel on 3rd March, and Ramada Sutton Coldfield on 24th March.  For our top tips on how to ‘survive’ wedding fayres, click here .

Traditional or Candid Wedding Photography

A Combination of Traditional and Candid Wedding Photography

If you have clicked on this blog, I am guessing you are getting married? CONGRATULATIONS!! I am also guessing that you looking at photographers, thinking I didn’t realise there are so many to choose from, and I have no clue what I want! Should it be traditional wedding photography or candid wedding photography!

Here is my breakdown on the styles of photography to hopefully help you choose your preferred style, allowing you to take a more informed look at your local photographers.

Traditional

Traditional is capturing the key elements of your day, including signing of the register, cutting of the cake, and group shots with parents, bridal party, and guests. The bride and groom portraits are beautifully posed and structured images of looking at camera, looking at each other, and having a little kiss.

Candid

Reportage / candid style photography follows your special day as happens. Candid images are not setup or directed by the photographer. The photographer follows the day’s events capturing natural smiles, giggles, and those intimate moments.  If looking straight at the camera makes you feel uncomfortable this could certainly be the style for you.

Combination of traditional and candid

If you like the sound of both styles, then have both! Personally, this is our preferred style of capturing our couple’s special day. A mix of both traditional and candid captures your wedding in it’s entirety. Candids are great for bridal preps, ceremony, and enjoying your day with your guests. The traditional group shots captures your family and friends to look back at for years to come, and beautiful Bride and Groom photos will take pride of place in your album and on display in your home.

I know how overwhelming choosing your wedding photographer can be, so I hope this blog has helped. I am always happy to answer questions and offer guidance. If you would like to talk to me about your wedding photography, please click here.

Do We Need Two Photographers at our Wedding

Two Wedding Photographers Vs One Wedding Photographer

As a husband and wife team, we are often asked by Brides and Grooms if both of us will be there on their wedding day, and if they do in fact need two photographers.

Not all weddings require more than one photographer. Here is our guide for determining if your wedding would benefit two photographers, or if one is plenty:

  • Are you having bridal preps and groom preps? You will definitely need two photographers, one with the Bride and one with the Groom.
  • Are the Bridal preps a distance from the ceremony? A second photographer would be an advantage. As the first photographer will be with the Bride, there would be very little time to travel to the venue to meet the Groom for pre-ceremony shots. The second photographer can be at the venue to meet with the Groom and Groomsmen to capture the pre-ceremony nerves.
  • Do you have more than 80 guests during the day? Two photographers would certainly help with the organisation of group shots, especially of the entire wedding party. Also a great opportunity to capture candid shots whilst the first photographer is taking group and bridal shots.

The other benefit to having a second photographer is during the ceremony. With one positioned at the front and one at the back, you will receive two view points of the most important part of your day.

Ceremony at St Chad’s Church, Hopwas

Ceremony at The Waterfront, Barton Marina

As mentioned earlier, for many weddings one photographer is plenty. If you are having a small, intimate wedding with your closest family and friends, having two cameras pointing at them could make your guests feel a little uncomfortable. More so if you are having a videographer too.

With our years of experience, knowledge, and passion for wedding photography, we are always happy to offer guidance and advice to couples. If you have any questions about your wedding photography, do not hesitate to contact us. To see more of our work, click here to visit our webpage.

Wedding Photography at The Waterfront Barton Marina

Charlotte and Nathan’s Wedding at The Waterfront, Barton Marina

On Saturday 18th August, we had the pleasure of capturing Charlotte and Nathan’s wedding at The Waterfront at Barton Marina in Staffordshire.

Phil joined the Bride and bridal party at home to capture the preparations. Phil has never seen such a calm and relaxed bride. Even when the wrong coloured limo arrived, the bride just laughed and carried on. Whilst Phil was catching the final preparations, Vicky went ahead to The Waterfront to meet the Groom and Groomsmen. Again, a very calm Groom was awaiting his Bride. The Waterfront is positioned in the marina, providing a great backdrop for the Groomsmen shots.

The civil ceremony was hosted in The Crow’s Nest at The Waterfront. The room was decorated beautifully for their intimate ceremony surrounded by their family and friends. Following the ‘I do’s’ everyone headed out for drinks on the terrace. After a quick refreshment and congratulating the new Mr and Mrs, we cracked on with the group shots and Bride and Groom portraits. With the lake, the bridge, the woodland walk, and the marina, backdrops for the photos were plentiful.

At night, the marina is lit beautifully, therefore twilight photos were a must. After the first dance, we sneaked the Bride and Groom out for a couple of night time photos, which the Best Men seemed to jump in on too. Below are just a few images from their day.

This was a lovely wedding, that we loved being part of. We would like to thank Charlotte and Nathan for choosing us to capture your special day and wish you both all the best wishes. For more information on our Wedding Photography service, click here. Wedding Photography at Hawkesyard Estate

Wedding of Emma and Alex at Hawkesyard Estate

On Saturday 27th July we had the pleasure of providing the wedding photography for Emma and Alex at Hawkesyard Estate in Rugeley.

We were with the happy couple all day, from the preparations catching the excitement and a few nerves, all the way through to their first dance as husband and wife. Phil joined the bride at her parents house, whilst Vicky joined the Groom at home.

The ceremony was conducted at the beautiful St Chad’s Church in Hopwas. Surrounded by their family and friends, the couple exchanged vows. A few happy tears were shed, mostly by the Groom.

The reception was held at the stunning Hawkesyard Estate. With its vast gardens and beautiful architecture, providing many backdrops for photographs, we were in photographers heaven. Below are just a few of the images from their lovely day.

We would like to thank Emma and Alex for choosing us to be part of your special day, and wish you both the very best.

Wedding Photography at Swinfen Hall Hotel

Wedding of Hayley and James, Swinfen Hall Hotel

On Saturday 16th June 2018, we had the pleasure of providing the wedding photography for Hayley and James at the stunning Swinfen Hall Hotel.

When we arrived, we found a very nervous Groom and even more nervous Best Man on the front steps, awaiting their guests. To occupy the Groom’s mind for a few minutes, Vicky took him and his Groomsmen for a little walk in the grounds to get some shots. Phil headed off to find the Bride, as the bridal party were getting ready in the hotel.

The ceremony took place in The Four Seasons room. Joined by their three gorgeous children, family, and friends, Hayley and James made their vows. Following the ‘I Do’s‘ we all went out in the beautiful gardens, which is a photographer’s dream. So many different backdrops from the pond to the trellis walk, and not forgetting the amazing architecture of the mansion itself. We could have spent hours photographing the happy couple, but understandably they wanted to join their guests and enjoy the celebrations.

The day was certainly filled with love and laughter. We would like to thank Hayley and James for choosing us to capture your special day, and wish you all the very best for the future.

Here are a few images from their day. If you would like more information on our wedding photography service, please contact Vicky and Phil on 01827 215 707.

Wedding at Moor Hall Hotel

Wedding of Sarah and Adam at Moor Hall Hotel

On the 29th December 2017, we had the pleasure of providing the wedding photography for the lovely Sarah and Adam. The ceremony was conducted at St Michael’s Church in Boldmere, followed by Reception at the beautiful Moor Hall Hotel in Sutton Coldfield.

The day started off at home with the Bride, Bridesmaids and family getting ready for the special day ahead. Racing ahead of the bridal party, we joined the Groom and Groomsmen at the Church, in time for their last few words of encouragement. The ceremony was lovely surrounded by their family and friends.

Once we arrived at Moor Hall Hotel, with it’s vast grounds and extraordinary features, it was time for us to really get to work. With so many stunning backdrops for wedding portraits, we were truly spoilt.

Once the meal was devoured, and nervous speeches done, night had fallen, therefore the perfect opportunity for some night time portraits. The Bride and Groom had also arranged some sparklers for a bit of fun with the Bridemaids and Groomsmen.
