On 27th June we had the pleasure of capturing Georgina and Stuart’s wedding at the stunning Mythe Barn in Atherstone.
The ceremony was held in the Oak Barn which was decorated beautifully. The procession of the bridal party became a little too much for Stuart, as soon he saw their gorgeous daughter walking down the aisle he couldn’t hold back the tears. When he saw his beautiful bride, he was completely overcome. With Phil up on the balcony at the rear and Vicky at the front, we captured this emotional moment (even we had to hold back the tears). The ceremony was beautiful, surrounded by their family and friends.
After the I do’s we all headed out to the courtyard for reception drinks and photos. With the stunning garden and surrounding fields, the areas for photos were superb. Below are just a few of our favourite images from their amazing day. We would like to thank Georgina and Stuart for choosing us to capture your special day.
On Saturday 15th June, we had the pleasure of capturing Katie and Luke’s wedding day. The ceremony was held at the beautiful St Chad’s Church in Hopwas, followed by reception at The Belfry in Wishaw, Sutton Coldfield.
Vicky joined the Bride at her parent’s home to capture the preparations, whilst Phil joined the (very nervous) Groom at home. Following laughter and tears (all happy) of getting ready, everyone made their way to the Church. The ceremony was beautiful, surrounded by their family and friends. After the ceremony, with the weather looking rather ropey, we all kept our fingers crossed for the rain to pass us by, and cracked on with the group shots and confetti throw. Just as we finished the groups, the rain made it’s appearance!
The rain did not ease at all on the way to The Belfry. The Bride and Groom stayed in the car, a stunning Rolls Royce, enjoying a glass a of fizz. Just as we were ready to brave the elements, the rain stopped. It couldn’t have been timed better to get shots with the car. Whilst the guests were enjoying drinks and canapés , we hopped on the golf buggy to visit all the excellent places The Belfry has to offer for stunning Bridal portraits. Including the bridge, fountain, trellis etc… Below are just a few of our favourite images from their day.
On Saturday 17th May, we had the pleasure of capturing the wedding of Rachel and Ben at St Paul’s Church in Burton Upon Trent, and Reception at Branston Golf and Country Club, also in Burton Upon Trent.
On the morning of the wedding, driving to the church, the weather was a little wet. Thankfully, as we approached, the rain stopped just in time for the guests arriving. St Paul’s church is absolutely breathtaking. One of the church officials told us about how the church was originally going to be a cathedral, which you can certainly see from inside. The ceremony was lovely, filled with laughter and love.
After the ceremony, the sun was shining brightly. We captured the family group shots the bride and groom requested in the church grounds, before heading on to the reception.
This was a new venue for us to shoot at. We love going to new venues, as it gets the creative juices flowing, exploring all the areas to make beautiful backdrops for the photos. Branston Golf Club has an abundance of areas, with the stunning dedicated bridal garden and golf buggy down to the lake and bridge. The wedding co-ordinator couldn’t have been more helpful to both the bride and groom, and us. Nothing was too much trouble.
We had a lovely day, thank you to Rachel and Ben for choosing us to capture your special day.
What Rachel and Ben had to say: “We would just like to thank both you and Phil for capturing our wedding day. The photos are beautiful and we are having a tough time selecting the ones for our album! You made us feel comfortable and relaxed during the day.”
Two Wedding Photographers Vs One Wedding Photographer
As a husband and wife team, we are often asked by Brides and Grooms if both of us will be there on their wedding day, and if they do in fact need two photographers.
Not all weddings require more than one photographer. Here is our guide for determining if your wedding would benefit two photographers, or if one is plenty:
Are you having bridal preps and groom preps? You will definitely need two photographers, one with the Bride and one with the Groom.
Are the Bridal preps a distance from the ceremony? A second photographer would be an advantage. As the first photographer will be with the Bride, there would be very little time to travel to the venue to meet the Groom for pre-ceremony shots. The second photographer can be at the venue to meet with the Groom and Groomsmen to capture the pre-ceremony nerves.
Do you have more than 80 guests during the day? Two photographers would certainly help with the organisation of group shots, especially of the entire wedding party. Also a great opportunity to capture candid shots whilst the first photographer is taking group and bridal shots.
The other benefit to having a second photographer is during the ceremony. With one positioned at the front and one at the back, you will receive two view points of the most important part of your day.
As mentioned earlier, for many weddings one photographer is plenty. If you are having a small, intimate wedding with your closest family and friends, having two cameras pointing at them could make your guests feel a little uncomfortable. More so if you are having a videographer too.

On the 29th December 2017, we had the pleasure of providing the wedding photography for the lovely Sarah and Adam. The ceremony was conducted at St Michael’s Church in Boldmere, followed by Reception at the beautiful Moor Hall Hotel in Sutton Coldfield.
The day started off at home with the Bride, Bridesmaids and family getting ready for the special day ahead. Racing ahead of the bridal party, we joined the Groom and Groomsmen at the Church, in time for their last few words of encouragement. The ceremony was lovely surrounded by their family and friends.
Once we arrived at Moor Hall Hotel, with it’s vast grounds and extraordinary features, it was time for us to really get to work. With so many stunning backdrops for wedding portraits, we were truly spoilt.
Once the meal was devoured, and nervous speeches done, night had fallen, therefore the perfect opportunity for some night time portraits. The Bride and Groom had also arranged some sparklers for a bit of fun with the Bridemaids and Groomsmen.
We would like to thank Sarah and Adam for choosing Philip Charles Photography to record your special day, and wish you all the happiness for the future.
Wedding of Kirsty and Tahir in Tamworth Castle Grounds
On 20th April we had the pleasure of providing the wedding photography for Kirsty and Tahir. The ceremony and reception was hosted by the well known Castle Hotel, Tamworth with photographs being taken in the iconic Tamworth Castle Grounds.
The ceremony was held in the Wedgewood suite. The Bride’s brother was very emotional seeing his sister say her vows, which even brought a lump to our throat. Following the ceremony, the whole wedding party made the short walk down to the Tamworth Castle Grounds for the photos. Thankfully, the weather was on our side. It was a beautiful day, which was a relief to avoid the typical April showers. The Castle Grounds is an excellent location for photography. The layered colourful flowerbeds provide a superb backdrop for the group shots. The historic features of the Castle, obelisk, and Lady Bridge create stunning Bridal portraiture.
We all then headed back to the Hotel to carry on the celebrations in to the evening.
We wish Kirsty and Tahir a long and happy future together, and thank you for choosing Philip Charles Photography to record your special day. Below are a few shots from the day.

Amazing Wedding Photography Testimonial from Bride and Groom
We had to share this amazing wedding photography testimonial we received from one of our Bride & Groom’s:
“We first met Phil at a friend’s wedding and immediately were drawn to his warmth, humour and how he made everyone feel at ease whilst photographing. When it was our turn a year later we had no doubt who we wanted to document our special day. We had 2 meetings with Phil before the big day, who explained the process clearly and in depth so to capture our day as we wanted it. On the day of the wedding he was accompanied by a second photographer so was able to capture bridal and groom preparation. Throughout the day Phil worked efficiently so we were able to spend time enjoying our day too, and captured beautiful photos. After the wedding Phil and his team were quick to work on the photos and send us a link in able to decide on our wedding album.
After the birth of our little boy we went to a newborn photo shoot with Phil. This was a wonderful experience. Phil was amazing with our son and so patient. He took his time and we did not feel rushed or under pressure to settle our son when he woke and needed feeding. The photos came back better than we could have expected.
We cannot speak highly enough of Phil, Vicky and the rest of the team who have captured the two most precious days of our lives. Liz and John Hadgkiss”
It has been true pleasure working with Liz and John, and very humbled by their kind words. Below are a few images from their big day at Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel. Wedding Photography at The Lord Leycester Hospital, Warwick
The Lord Leycester Hospital is a stunning wedding venue in the heart of the ancient town of Warwick.
A traditional grade 1 listed building with many excellent features provides a stunning backdrop for wedding photography. Such as the Medieval Chapel, Great Hall and Masters Garden. The building’s architecture dating from 1126, offers an abundance of interesting textures and areas to stage some exquisite bridal portraiture.
In the history of the Lord Leycester, it is said that a banquet held for King James I, hosted in the great hall, left the town of Warwick in debt for a decade.
Here are few of our favourite images taken at a recent wedding we had the pleasure to provide photography for. A big thank you to Love Wedding Cars for their help in positioning the car so brilliantly.

Wedding Photography Location in Tamworth Castle Grounds
A superb local area for wedding photography is the Tamworth Castle Grounds. Many couples getting married in the local area often request for some of their photos to be taken here before heading on to their reception venue.
With the iconic Castle, flower bed wall, obelisk and the Bandstand, all offering an excellent backdrop for the portraiture shots. When planned ahead, we have been able to get the wedding car into the grounds to get some beautiful shots. With so many nearby wedding venues including Drayton Manor and Lea Marston Hotel, the Castle Grounds can be easily travelled to between the ceremony and reception. Of course, not forgetting Castle Hotel, the Castle Grounds are just to the rear.
